At MEIKO, abas ERP is used in its entirety at the headquarters and all other satellite locations around Germany. This is also becoming the case, step by step, at their international locations. In 2007 MEIKO began their search for a new ERP system. After a pre-qualification phase, MEIKO had three ERP developers on their short list, and chose abas ERP following a 15-day workshop in 2009. The system was initially implemented at their headquarters in Offenberg, Germany In 2011 MEIKO began rolling out the abas software at all eight of their German locations; the project was completed by 2013 without any serious hiccups. The deciding factors in favor of abas were the complete upgrade compatibility as well as the abas Teams, both in Germany and around the world, who could support the internationalization of MEIKO and had already begun working closely with MEIKO in the sales phase. The cost benefits of the abas software also play a significant role in the decision to integrate new locations. MEIKO continues to benefit from abas's low total cost of change.
As part of the abas implementation project, MEIKO was able to drastically improve their workflows and create new centralized structures. Duplicate efforts have been eradicated. Newly created or edited master files for customers, prices and products only need to be recorded once and are then available for all abas applications at MEIKO—including the Mobile Apps. Their external warehouse has been replaced by a central warehouse that the service department can access anytime and from anywhere, for example, to guarantee customer service replacement parts just in time.
