In order to raise awareness of deforestation among its customers and employees, ABAS Business Solutions is supporting the Saint-Michel-de-l'Attalaye reforestation project in Haiti. Each customer and employee will be offered a code to plant a tree in order to contribute to the reforestation of this country and the development of food security for its inhabitants.
Raising awareness of the problems of deforestation
Since 2010, ABAS Business Solutions has been committed to reducing its internal (electronic invoices and pay slips) and external (support for digitisation) paper waste.
This applies to its French, Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese offices. To go further, ABAS Business Solutions wanted to support a reforestation project in Haiti with the planting of 2,000 trees.
Each customer and each employee will receive a code to plant a tree... their tree!
We didn't just want to plant 2000 trees! We wanted to take part in the reflection of our customers and employees on the issue of deforestation and our use of paper
explains Pierre Baudoin, Managing Director of ABAS Business Solutions.
ABAS Business Solutions chose to support the Saint-Michel-de-l'Attalaye project in Haiti because of the urgency of the problem in this country. Indeed, Haiti is one of the countries most affected by deforestation in the world. If in 1920, 60% of the Haitian territory was made up of forests, only 2% remains today.
The project in Saint-Michel-de-l'Attalaye, which we are supporting today in partnership with Reforest'Action and the Agrinotech association, consists of developing a family agroforestry activity. Citrus trees contribute by their nature to reducing soil erosion but also to the development of the population's food and financial resources
adds Pierre Baudoin.
Initiated in September 2019, the agroforestry and reforestation project in Haiti has resulted in the planting of 250,000 trees of various species in the Saint-Michel de l'Attalaye region, thanks to the strong involvement of local communities.
And, on a daily basis?
In 2010, ABAS Business Solutions embarked on an initiative to reduce paper consumption. Since then, the company has continued its commitment in several areas such as waste recycling, energy savings and the promotion of low-impact modes of mobility. In addition to its daily commitment to reduce its environmental impact, notably by raising awareness among its employees, ABAS Business Solutions also contributes to reducing those of its customers and partners.
If we regularly communicate on environmental issues to our customers and employees, we are convinced that it is by providing them with the right tools that they will succeed. And this ranges from stainless steel bottles to training on our industry digitalisation tools (DMS, BPM, EDI, etc.) or resource optimisation tools (APS, etc.)
concludes Pierre Baudoin.
